Scholarship Announcements

Each year the SOA dance department travels with students to the National or Regional High School Dance Festival to expose them to master teachers, college professors, and dance students from around the country. Each year students who attend audition for scholarships. Alumni have received scholarships to prestigious college dance programs such as: Boston Conservatory, Joffrey Summer Program, Pointe Park University, and University of the Arts, to name a few. Students are offered scholarships to local college dance programs as well such as Coker College and Winthrop University. They can also receive summer dance intensive scholarships.

Scholarships from the 2024 National High School Dance Festival include:

Logan King, Ivy Brown, Dennora Legare, Marin Lutz, Annabeth Beam, Julia Hartman, Emilia Hall

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our dancers who attended the National High School Dance Festival last week at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. Throughout the festival, they participated in a variety of intensive classes each day, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, led by renowned college professors and master teachers from across the country.

In addition to their rigorous training, our students took part in an audition for college scholarships, summer intensives, and program acceptances. With 73 colleges, universities, and summer programs in attendance, our dancers’ hard work and talent truly stood out—each dancer receiving seven or more offers! They got to meet with each recruiter at the College fair.

Each evening, they attended gala concerts, witnessing incredible performances by their peers from around the country (Australia and Hawaii included) . Among 1,000 submissions, we are proud to share that Marin’s piece, “Trigger Warning,” was selected for performance at the festival. Marin and Dennora represented us beautifully, showcasing their artistry on stage.

We are incredibly proud of our dancers for their dedication, passion, and accomplishments. Please join us in congratulating our dancers on their well-deserved success! Enjoy the attached pictures!
