Leslie Jones – 6th and 8th Grade dance, Junior Composition, Senior Thesis

Leslie holds an MFA in Dance from Texas Woman’s University and a BFA in Dance and Minor in Music from the University of Central Oklahoma. She danced professionally with Oklahoma City’s modern and aerial dance company, Perpetual Motion, performing across the Midwest and at the Rogue Festival in Fresno, California. Leslie’s performance experience spans numerous festivals including the Performaticá Festival in Puebla, Mexico. During graduate school, Jones studied the use of Werner Herzog’s films as choreographic and coaching tools. Leslie also danced in a collaborative dance film “Non-Repeat” with Jordan Fuchs and a festival work “Acts of Absence” with Sarah Gamblin. Ms. Jones has taught dance since 2005 and has continued to teach various levels and ages in modern, ballet, improvisation, and creative dance. Upon moving to South Carolina, Leslie taught elementary dance in public school and classes for Ballet Academy of Charleston and Dance Moves of Charleston. In 2015 Jones joined the College of Charleston as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Theatre and Dance. Ms. Jones has also enjoyed teaching summer camps at local studios, teaching for the SMAART summer program, and guest performing with Annex Dance Company. Leslie joined the dance faculty at Charleston County School of the Arts in 2017.
