Bates Dance Festival – Young Dancers Workshop

The return of Bates Dance Festival’s Young Dancers Workshop after a two year Covid hiatus. Summer 2022 will feature an international community of choreographers, performers, educators & students in a cooperative community to rigorously study, perform & create new work. The Young Dancers Workshop enrolls intermediate and advanced dancers, ages 14 -18 years old, who have previous experience and curiosity in the field of dance. Dancers develop technique and strengthen their knowledge-base with direct mentorship from a group of young professionals for the duration of the Young Dancer’s stay on campus.

The Young Dancers Workshop is welcoming an ALL*STAR line up of faculty and courses. Dancers participate in 4-5 courses each day, including Modern/Contemporary Techniques, Afro-Brazilian, Street Styles and Repertory, among others!  Dancers have opportunities to make and perform their own work, collaborate with others and dive deeply into personal practice.

Scholarships are available based on need and merit. Five full scholarships will also be awarded to BIPOC students. If you have any questions about how best to support your students’ potential training at the Festival, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here as a resource! My colleagues and I are available to Zoom into your classes to dance and share info about the program, and have capacity to travel for in person sessions too! Please shoot me an email at dancefest@bates.edu with any questions or interest!

The application goes live on Monday, Dec 6! Please keep an eye out on social media for continued updates and to follow along with us!
