The Purple Tutu Needs Volunteers

Bringing the artistry of ballet to children with Down Syndrome.

This is from Holland McDowell: I graduated from Magnet in 2015. I am now a junior at The George Washington University and am reaching out in regards to my organization called The Purple Tutu. I founded the not-for-profit as a sophomore at magnet with the goal of providing ballet classes to children with Down Syndrome. Now in it’s 5th year, classes are taught weekly by a professional dancer at the Charleston Dance Institute in Mount Pleasant. Now about to begin our spring season of classes on January 22nd, we are looking to add more volunteers to our team to help teach the kids. If you know of any students with dance experience looking for service hours, I would so appreciate you letting them know about our program.

Also if you know of anyone without dance experience who may be interested in the program, please have them reach out to me. We can always use the help!

I so appreciate your time and help. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at And check us out on Facebook at The Purple Tutu Ballet.
